The Liverpool defender has scored twice for the Tigers in the three games since his arrival in March and has impressed Taylor.
"I don't know how anyone can have any idea whether he will be awarded a contract or not because that is an issue between him and Gerard Houllier," said the former England coach.
"My contacts at Liverpool have not told me anything about that but whether he gets offered a deal or not we are interested in him.
"If he is available we will definitely be interested in signing him on a permanent basis.
"He's a player I like, he's confident on the ball and I think he has played well for us."
