Owen was left on the bench against Leeds United at the weekend, coming on for the remaining 21 minutes after a hectic International schedule.

And now Houllier is ready to release a wholly refreshed Michael Owen on a suspect Spartak defence.

Houllier said: "I can tell you Michael will play tomorrow. We have a tough schedule of matches and that's why I rested him at Leeds.

"He did very well when he came on at Leeds. Milan Baros was tired and I put Michael just behind Diouf. It was good that Michael could adapt to a different role and he did a very good job for the team."
