Owen was immediately on the phone to Jamie Carragher after Liverpool overcame Juventus to offer his congratulations and the former Red believes his old team can triumph in Istanbul on May 25th.
"We all know what happened with Porto beating Monaco in the final and with Greece winning the European Championships," he said.
"It won't be as big a surprise if Liverpool win the Champions League as it was with those two.
"It has been an amazing season for Liverpool and all they need is for one or two results to go for them and it could turn out to be their best in 20 years.
"When they lose people say to me 'leaving was a good decision' and when they beat someone I'm asked 'do you wish you were still there?' Those comments are inevitable whatever happens. I have to live with them."
