The 23-year-old England star - despite making a scoring return against Leeds United last week - has yet to reach full fitness following the ligament injury he suffered against Arsenal over three weeks ago and failed to make the substitutes bench for Wednesday's thrilling Carling Cup win at Blackburn.

Owen, along with young French striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle (dead leg) and former captain Sami Hyypia (hamstring), wil be a late selection decision for Gerard Houllier ahead of the difficult Loftus Road date with Chris Coleman's Cottagers.

"Michael Owen will train on Friday and I will make a decision on Saturday about him," revealed Houllier.
