Owen: I want Beckham to captain England

Liverpool striker Michael Owen says he wants David Beckham to captain the Three Lions against Sweden tomorrow.

The England vice-captain is expected to lead the attack against the Swedes but he hopes United's David Beckham is firmly behind him in midfield.

"We all hope that David Beckham is going to be fit for the first game and if it means me not being captain then I'd be happy," said St. Mike.

"It would mean we would have our proper captain and someone that is used to doing it, someone that's a great player that we need in the England team."
