Owen: I want more goals

After a preliminary meeting earlier in the week talks have begun in earnest over Owen's new contract with the club hoping to know the player's decision before the end of the season.

The Liverpool board are prepared to offer a deal that would make Owen the highest paid player in the club's history but it is the opportunity to win the game's top honours that is the issue for Owen.

The club hope to have Owen signed up before the start of Euro 2004.
