Owen update

Liverpool say Michael Owen is looking extremely unlikely to make the Barcelona game due to his hamstring injury.

Owen sustained the injury during Wednesday's clash against Newcastle and he was rated 50-50 to make the game, that has now changed to 20-80 say the club.

"I don't think Michael will be fit for Barcelona. I think that game will come too quickly for him," said acting boss Phil Thompson.

"It is probably 80-20 against him playing at the moment. There is still the possibility he'll be okay for the Middlesbrough game though.

"Michael is having a scan, which is just normal procedure, and it looks as though it's a hamstring strain which usually takes between 10-12 days to heal.

"It leaves us a little bit short of options with Nicolas being cup-tied but Jari and Milan will obviously come into the equation."
