Owen: We have faith in Houllier

Owen admits that confidence is low after a horrendous run of ten league games without a win, yet he is sure that Gerard Houllier is the man to guide the Anfield club to further success.

Owen said: "The boss hasn't changed his approach. He has been very supportive and kept everyone together. He refuses to slag anyone off because the last thing we need at the moment is splits in the ranks or in-fighting.

"It has been business as usual as far as he is concerned. He is spending just as much time with us on the training ground as he's always done.

"He hasn't had to cut back on very much since his illness last season - apart from the fact he doesn't go flying around the world to watch as many matches as he used to do.

"I know what he is going through because I've had criticism myself. But if I have judged him correctly he will handle this with his usual expertise.

"There won't be a knee-jerk reaction or any panic. Nor will he start chopping and changing the side. He will stick to the good things he has always done and which have brought Liverpool so much success in the past.

"To start questioning the manager's future now is ridiculous. We live in very judgemental times. Fortunately, Liverpool have a sensible board of directors who won't listen to such nonsense.

"They won't panic and start sacking people. They never have and they won't start now."
