The striker's current deal expires in summer 2005 and he has insisted that he wants to stay at Liverpool.

Last week it emerged that he intends to quit his agents SFX and allow his fathe to deal with his business affairs.

But SFX are confident they can keep their man and when Owen's representative Tony Stephens returns from his six-month sabbatical in 1st March, Owens future will be top priority.

SFX have already lost David Beckham, who has joined up with his wife's agency '19' ran by Simon Fuller, and have now also lost Rio Ferdinand to Sport Entertainment and Media Group, ran by Jerome Anderson and Jeff Weston.

Will Owen be the next big name to jump ship?
