'Owens Girl' in action

8-year-old Liverpool supporter Charlotte Oldham is hoping that her racing greyhound 'Owens Girl' can repeat her winning form when she returns to action this evening.

The 2-year-old Irish bitch made her racing debut at Brough Park last week in a 480 metre handicap race after receiving 9 metres. We fancied her last Friday and gave you the nod and after opening at 7/4 she was quickly backed down to the 4/6 favourite before romping home.

Asked if she fancied 'Owens Girl' this evening in the 2051, Charlotte told us: "I'm not sure really. I haven't had time to look at the other dogs yet. She was heavily backed last week so maybe this time I will be more selective on who I tell!"

Meanwhile kennel-mate 'Bootroom Boy' clocked an impressive 17.60 over a 290 metre sprint solo trial on Wednesday afternoon. He's having his final trial this evening over 480 metres so he too should be making his racing debut soon.

Obviously Kop Talk is a website dedicated to the Mighty Reds but we think it's great having greyhounds flying the flag for the site using names associated to the club. It's just a bit of fun so don't worry, we won't start reporting about dogs every day, although we're sure a few of you have experienced a few in your time!
