Owens looking for cup win

The Reds play Manchester City in the first leg of the FA Youth Cup final at Anfield tonight. It will be a difficult game but after knocking out last season's runners up Southampton in the semi-final and holders Ipswich in the fourth round Owens has plenty of confidence in his team.

Owens said: "We obviously want to play well and win the game and the Cup. If you have to choose one of those you want to win. As long as it goes down in the history books that will be it forever. Plenty of cup games have one team as the better side on an opinion basis, but the other team wins. You want to be the team that wins, but we would also want to be the better side and play good football.

"Manchester City have got two big strikers who are very dangerous.

"They are fast and good on the ball, but generally it is always a good and tight game against Manchester City youth teams.

"We know them well and we won't take them lightly. Any team that gets this far in the Youth Cup or any competition needs your respect."
