Parkes set for Anfield test

The veteran coach feels that the encouraging away record of Graeme Souness's strugglers could prove all-important in what will be a must-win game for Liverpool.

Parkes said: "The defeat by Portsmouth definitely took a lot of getting over and I can't blame the fans for the booing at the end of the game.

"You can't argue with the fact that we haven't done well this season. It would be hard to disagree with the fans verdict, but it's gone now and on the positive side our away form has been good. We need to keep it going and hope that Liverpool have an edgy day at home.

"Looking ahead we have got to find three wins, or two wins and three draws from somewhere and I am still confident that we can do it."
