Parry: Carragher still has a future

The £3.5m signing of 27-year-old Finnan is expected to put great pressure on Carragher's place in the Reds side, but Parry insists that the Bootle-born defender will remain an integral part of the squad.

Parry said: "It's all about competition for places at a club like ours. Over the years Jamie has fought off competition from many players and I'm sure he'll be as determined as ever to do so again."
