Parry: Gravy train is over

Parry believes that player power will now reside only with the most in-demand players and most players will no longer be able to make demands of clubs.

At Anfield four players (Igor Biscan, Stephane Henchoz, Vladimir Smicer and Didi Hamann) have reached the final year of their contracts but have been told they must wait before there is any talk of renewals- something that would not have happened a couple of years ago.

"In two years the market has changed dramatically," said Parry.

"Back then, you wouldn't let players get to the last 12 months but now there are not that many options.

"You look at the wage levels in Germany and France, maybe in Italy, and the money is not there.

"I can also see the wages in England are beginning to level off and clubs have to be cautious."
