Parry praises supporters

It was said that the Kop could suck the ball into the net on occasions and that was what happened against Chelsea in the semi-final! Parry has asked the fans travelling to the game for a similar display.

"You've done us proud on the road to Istanbul, now let's show the world why our supporters are so special." he said.

"The backing we've received throughout our Champions League campaign has been magnificent and helped us get to the final.

"A huge number of fans will be travelling to Turkey and our message to all of them is they will be flying the flag for Liverpool Football Club. Istanbul is a wonderful city and I would ask every one of our supporters to observe the local customs and respect our Turkish hosts.

"The behaviour of our fans when we played Galatasaray in February 2002 was exemplary and that is exactly the sort of impression we want to make on this our second visit to Istanbul.

"It may seem a minor point, but we have been advised by the Turkish authorities that the wearing of fezzes could cause huge offence. It would be a shame if the most innocent and humorous of gestures was taken in completely the wrong way so please leave the fezzes at home!

"Again, I make no apologies for reiterating that tickets should only have been purchased through official Liverpool FC channels. This has nothing to do with money and everything to do with safety. Supporters who buy tickets from non-official sources could find themselves excluded by the Turkish police who recognise the importance of a strict segregation policy. One final and very important point, duplicate tickets cannot be issued so please make sure your match ticket is in a safe place at all times.

"Above all, enjoy yourself and get behind Rafa and the lads in Istanbul."
