Parry promises action

"One of the most positive things we've noticed in recent weeks has been the reaction of the supporters, particularly at Arsenal and again at Newcastle last night," Parry said.

"When times are tough it's all about pulling together. Obviously it was a setback last night, but it's not the end of the world.

"When you hear our fans singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone' with just five minutes left you realise they're behind us. Our message to them is: We will turn it around.

"Arithmetically it's going to be a lot harder to catch Arsenal and it's very much in their hands now, but it wasn't so long ago Newcastle had a similar lead over Manchester United in the Premiership and we all remember what happened then.

"There is still everything to play for and this is a time not only for everyone to remain calm but for pulling together. We celebrate during the good times together and we stay strong together.

"It's been a terrific last four years and we are still going in the right direction. We do have high expectations and when the club has finished fourth, third and then second there is only one place left to go.

"We understand the expectation levels at Liverpool are high and that is what the club is all about.

"There is pressure here and rightly so and everyone is frustrated but we still have the belief we will get to where we want to be. We go into the New Year still in three cup competitions and we're not completely out of the title race yet."
