Partridge backs Reds for Cup success

The 22 year-old Irishman grew up as an avid follower of the Red Devils but his allegiances, he insists, switched to Anfield as soon as he signed for the Merseyside club.

Partridge said: I followed Man Utd as a boy but all that goes out the window when you get older and join another club I suppose.

"I supported them purely because my dad did and, like most boys, I just followed suit. Over in Ireland it is either Man Utd or Liverpool.

"Liverpool have got a big match tomorrow which I will be going to if we get the day off, but I have planned to go and hopefully they can get the first trophy for a while.

"It's a Cup Final and you can never tell. Form doesn't come into it on the day and player for player, I think Liverpool can match Manchester United.

"I'll be cheering the lads on all the way from the terraces with the fans which should be a great crack. It gives you another perspective seeing the fans' passion and all that, and makes you realise what they are feeling when you are on the pitch playing.
