The 22-year-old has returned to Anfield after undergoing a hernia operation that has cut short his season. Partridge leaves with happy memories of his spell at Highfield Road - knowing that he may well return sooner rather then later.

Partridge said: "It is a disappointing end to the season because it’s been brilliant for me. I have played more than 30 games and I feel I have done quite well.Gary McAllister, who knew me from our time at Liverpool, has been brilliant and I can’t thank him enough for giving me this opportunity.

"Now I have got to get fit and see if I can force my way into the reckoning at Liverpool. If that didn’t happen I’d love to come back to Coventry."
