Patridge close to Anfield exit

The Royals have offered £300,000 for the Irishman and it is expected that Gerard Houllier will allow the 23-year-old to relaunch his flagging career at the Madjeski Stadium.

Partridge joins Stephen Warnock - who has signed for Coventry City on a year's-loan - in being told he is surplus to requirements this summer. Another young star, Neil Mellor, could also move to the first division if rumours linking him with a loan to Derby County prove to be correct.
