Pennant deal close

Liverpool had their initial bid of £3.5m turned down but the Reds returned with a £6m bid after giving up on signing Sevilla's Daniel Alves. Birmingham have accepted Liverpool's new offer and Pennant should become a Liverpool player once he passes a medical.

Liverpool fan Pennant is expected to sign for the Reds in time to fly out to their pre-season training camp later this week.
