"I wanted to come to Spain and I had offers from important teams in Europe but joined Real Zaragoza," he said.

"I really want to get started and do well in the league."

Pennant joined Liverpool for £6.7million from Birmingham City in 2006

He played in the 2007 Champions League final but fell out of favour and spent the second half of last season on loan at Portsmouth.
