Platt was at the Liverpool Academy since he was 12 but failed to make the grade and was released by the Reds at the end of last season. However, the Republic of Ireland youth international has impressed in a trial game against Swansea to earn a full time contract with the League One side.

"Conal came into training, looked bright, scored two goals and thought he was somebody we could work with and develop," said Bournemouth manager Sean O'Driscoll.

"He had other options, but was advised that the way we play would suit his game and regulations went from there."
