Pole axed?

The highly-rated Zeljenizicar Saravejo star won acclaim across the continent for a series of eye-catching displays for his country during Bosnia's unsuccessful bid to qualify for Euro 2004.

One Bosnian newspaper has claimed that a deal to take the 23-year-old, who is also said to be courted by Premiership rivals Manchester City, to Anfield is already "90 percent done".

Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier has, however, insisted that he has no interest in acquiring the considerable talents of the rising star, saying forcefully that he had "never even heard of him".
