Pongolle limps out of reserves

Florent Sinama Pongolle had to leave the field with an ankle injury during the second half of the game against Blackburn.

Andy Wright and Adam Flynn were both given the opportunities to prove themselves in the hope of securing contracts with the club.

Rovers took the lead with a goal from Jemal Johnson after a defensive error from Wright.

But Liverpool bounced back quickly. Flynn and Pongolle combined well and allowed Smyth to tap in an easy goal.

Diouf had a goal disallowed later on, but otherwise had a lacklustre performance.
