Praise for Crouch

Crouch was outstanding as a lone striker against Everton earning the praise of Jamie Carragher in the process.

"If there was one game which underlined why we signed Crouchy, that was it," said Carragher.

"Last season we might have struggled to play that long with only ten men. The forwards we had were more suited to balls over the top, but Crouchy was ideal for the situation we were in because of the way he holds the ball.

"Not only does he relieve the pressure, but he was also involved in creating chances for us, which was shown with Luis Garcia's goal. I thought it was one of his best games for us at a time when we really needed it."
