Warnock made his Liverpool debut in this season's Champions League qualifier against AK Graz and has been a regular member of the first team squad all year.

Rafael Benitez has paid tribute to the performances of a player whose Liverpool career looked to be over this time last season.

"When we talk about Warnock we say always that he is a good player," said the Reds' boss.

"He always works very hard during the week. Maybe he can be the best in one game but you can be sure he will never be the worst. He maintains a very good level all of the time.

"It is important for us to have options and Warnock gives us extra possibilities down the left side.

"The most important thing is his determination. He has suffered two very serious similar injuries in the past, which he has done very well to come back from. Now that he is playing again he has the right mentality to be playing good football at the top level.

"I have every confidence in him. He is a young player with an open mind and he wants to learn all of the time. That is good for him and good for us."
