Praise for Duran

Duran played just over an hour in a holding midfield role before being replaced by fellow new boy Jordy Brouwer. After the game Ablett praised the Spanish youth internationals performance.

"Francisco is a good player and he did well in his first game for us," the reserve team coach told the club's official website.

"He is settling in along with our other new boys like Jordy Brouwer, Emiliano Insua and Ronald Huth who couldn't play because he was ill. It's a massive step for the young boys who have come from all around the world to play here and they are living with new families in a new environment, but full credit to them. They have tried to settle in as quickly as possible and we have a good group of players in the squad.

"Overall I thought it was a very difficult game and we had to cope with Bolton's direct style for the majority of the game. Francisco apart, we didn't pass the ball particularly well and I thought it was one of our poorest performances of the season with the ball. We got the result though which was the important thing."
