Praise for Reds

Liverpool ran out comfortable 3-0 winners against Anderlecht in what was probably their best display of the season so far. Vercauteren praised Rafa Benitez' side after the final whistle.

"We were beaten by a better team," he said. "We had a bit of a lesson about what is modern football in this age.

"For 35 minutes we were in the game and had a chance for a penalty, but the moment we went a goal down it was difficult.

"It is hard to play against a team like Liverpool when you are a goal down. They can benefit when you push forward and break into the spaces.

"The second goal made it more difficult and the red card (for Jestrovic) made it impossible."
