Pundit says Owen must go

"If I was Michael Owen's adviser, I would tell him to leave Liverpool now," said Marsh.

"They ain't going to win anything this year. OK, they will be there or thereabouts and will have their good periods but to me, they still don't look like they'll be challenging for the Premiership.

"Michael Owen is sensational and he will always score goals, but if I was his adviser I would tell him to leave Liverpool right now - or he'll end up the same as Robbie Fowler."

This comes only a week after Marsh claimed: "This could be the year that it finally falls into place at Liverpool. Liverpool are one of the reasons why I think Chelsea will miss out on the top three.

"I think this season they will build on what they've threatened and will be a constant threat to the big two. I am going for a top three finish and with a little luck and maybe without the distraction of Champions League they could even surpass my high expectations."

It's amazing what a couple of pre-season friendlies can do to change the views of a professional pundit.
