Rafa backs Crouch

Peter Crouch drew another blank yesterday and even missed a penalty but still gave a good account of himself and earned the praise of his manager.

Benitez said: "It's a shame Crouch didn't score because he played really well. He held the ball up, he took on defenders and won headers. It was a pity because he is a very good player but I think he will score soon. As long as he continues to play well and the team win then I happy with that.

"We have two or three players who can take a penalty and Crouch wanted to take it. Okay he missed it but Bolo Zenden scored from the rebound. Maybe if we are winning 2-0 in the next game then Crouch can take another penalty."
