Rafa blames ref for rucus

Steven Gerrard pushed Theo Lucius in the face just before the final whistle in yesterday's draw with Feyenoord and was lucky to walk away with just a yellow card. However, Rafa Benitez said the ref must take most of the blame for ignoring a blatant foul on Gerrard seconds earlier and not controlling the game.

"I do not think Steven will be in trouble," said the Liverpool boss.

"There was a lot going on. Maybe you should talk with the referee.

"Maybe these kind of games are more difficult with a local referee in charge. They become even more difficult.

"I am not bothered really about what went on and how the lads were treated, it is not the end of the world."
