Rafa calls on spirit of Istanbul

Liverpool are keen to find an impressive performance tonight after their poor display at Old Trafford on Sunday. Rafa Benitez has called on his team to remember their displays in Istanbul and Cardiff and to show the same fighting spirit again.

"My idea is very clear. Normally I am positive and, with the mentality here in Liverpool, we want to fight. I will continue fighting. I will keep trying to improve. It is clear that if we can start winning now, perfect, and if we cannot then we need to keep going to the end," said Benitez.

"We were doing the same in Istanbul. We were doing the same in Cardiff. This is the mentality of this club and we want to do the same things.

"It is clear that if we start playing well and scoring goals then we can get confidence. When you have confidence you can beat any team, we showed that at Istanbul and Cardiff.

"It isn't something you can go and buy.

"You just need to do your job and if you win and play well you will get more confidence. Confidence is one of the things that can affect a result. We need to change things by showing character and keep trying to do the right things again and again and again."
