The Reds were 2-0 down at half time, but second two half goals from Fernando Torres put them back in the game and a last minute winner from Dirk Kuyt sealed the victory and maintained their unbeaten record, putting them back at the top of the table.
"The reaction we showed in the second half was fantastic," said Benítez after the game. "The character, the determination.
"The thing our players showed is that they always believe. They went out in the second half believing they could win. It was a result that came from their mentality.
"The main thing for me was the belief of the players until the end. In the second half we were on top. We changed the mentality and approach. We knew we were giving them too much space so we tried to press them.
"Kuyt is one of our key players. His work-rate is amazing and I think that is why the supporters love him."
