Rafa demands more ruthlessness

Liverpool had chances to bury Blackburn Rovers on Boxing Day but were wasteful in front of goal and paid the price when Benni McCarthy hit the winner on the counter attack.

Rafa Benitez has demanded his team show more ruthlessness in front of goal against Spurs on Saturday.

"I have to be pleased with the quality of the movements, but not with the most important thing, which was the finishing," said the Reds' boss.

"Maybe sometimes it's a ruthlessness in our game. When you can, you must finish the games.

"The game was similar to Charlton in the number of chances, but not in the goals. A lot of our away games have been like this.

"We have to analyse why we didn't score and why we didn't create more chances in the second half. We must look to the next game against Tottenham and take our chances there."
