Craig Bellamy was involved in a spot of trouble with Newcastle coach and former Liverpool player Terry McDermott. However, Rafa Benitez dismissed the spat as nothing more than a shouting match.

"I could hear something in the tunnel but I couldn't see anything. I think it was over in two seconds, just shouting and nothing else," said Benitez.

"I was off the pitch quite quickly and up the tunnel. I wasn't aware of any altercation," said Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder.

"If Rafael Benitez said he heard it and it was nothing, then who am I to disagree with him?"
