Rafa expecting goals

If you discount the qualifier against Maccabi Haifa then Liverpool have failed to score in the Champions League for five games. However, Rafa Benitez expects his side to break that duck tonight.

"I try to be positive. We've scored in our last two home games, and I'd like to see the team scoring goals in Anfield whether it's in Europe or the Premiership. That's not important," said the Spaniard.

"What's important is if the team is playing well, creating opportunities. We're creating plenty of chances now in the Premiership. I hope to see the same in the Champions League.

"Why aren't we scoring? It's not easy to say. Perhaps we need to create yet more chances.

"Three of those five games were away from home. Against Benfica, both were tough games but, at home, it was mentally more difficult for the players.

"But we have more options now - Kuyt, Crouch, Pennant, Mark Gonzalez - in attack. The key is to find the balance between attack and defence."
