Rafa expects improvement

Liverpool go into tonight's Champions League qualifier second leg against Maccabi Haifa with a 2-1 lead from the first leg at Anfield a fortnight ago. Although the Reds won the first leg they were off their game that night.

Rafa Benitez expects an improvement tonight as his side are more match fit following the start of the league season.

"I'm not puzzled by our form. After the World Cup we had some players coming back after their holidays and it's not easy to have all the players at the same level," said the Reds' boss.

"The team is not 100% at the moment but we have confidence and quality and we will see tomorrow.

"But I think the players are fitter now than two weeks ago. We needed to improve our physical condition and I hope that we are in a better condition now."
