Rafa praises Crouch

Crouch had his first start in five games last night and justified the manager's decision to recall him with two goals, the second of which was an absolute stormer.

"Crouch scored an amazing goal and he showed very good movement and how good a player he is," said Rafa Benitez.

"It was the important goal for us but I have to say it was a strange game. We started off really well with a high tempo and got good crosses into the box and scored good goals. Then after 20 minutes we felt the job was done and that's when the problems began.

"I put Momo Sissoko on in the second half because we needed him to get us more control in the centre of midfield. At the end I was worried because we didn't have the control of the game that we wanted but the important thing was to win. It wasn't how we expected but we got the points.

"We are now in a very good position in the group and we have to keep on going and win our home games."
