"We have only six players with their national teams so we have been able to train with 12 or 13 players during the week," said the Liverpool boss.

"The players, supporters and me know we need to win. We need to win tomorrow but after that I wish Portsmouth all the best.

"The winter period is crucial because we have a lot of games. If we win against Portsmouth we will be in a better position in the league and if we beat Betis we will be able to concentrate more on the Premiership."
