Rafa still hopeful

Fortunately for the Reds, rivals Everton were also unable to extend their lead, as they were beaten by relegation troubled Blackburn Rovers at Goodison Park.

Rafa said: "We will keep working hard until the end. There are three points available for each game and it is important we keep trying. We need to stay confident and believe we can do it.

"We will keep fighting until the end. It may be that we get three points on the final day and they're the points we need. That's why it's important we don't give up," he concluded.

But boss Rafa admitted the teams away form had to improve.

He said: "We need to start winning away from home. If you do not win away then you cannot close the gap. You make it very difficult."
