Redknapp: I never wanted to leave Anfield

Former Liverpool skipper Jamie Redknapp says he never wanted to leave the club but had to, to try and resurrect his career.

Redknapp signed a 4-year-deal with Spurs yesterday causing some worries amongst their supporters who already have to put up with Darren Anderton's injuries.

"I never really wanted to leave the club," said Redknapp. "But I was at the stage where I wasn't involved as much as I would have liked.

"I heard about Tottenham's interest and felt it was the right move for me to make.

"I don't think anyone at Liverpool will begrudge me wanting to play football. It was just the right thing for me to do."
