Redknapp: Owen needs better balls

Former Liverpool skipper Jamie Redknapp is calling for the England team to give Michael Owen the proper service he needs so that he can destroy Argentina tomorrow.

Although Owen had a quiet game against Sweden this was mainly down to the poor supply of balls from the midfield and Redknapp says this needs sorting out for him to be effective.

"Michael is a player who thrives on service and it's down to the rest of the team to give him that service," said the Spurs midfielder who is currently working as a pundit for the BBC.

"I know he scored a great solo goal against Argentina four years ago but that's not normally his game. He's more of a finisher, a poacher and it's up to us to take advantage of his best talents."
