Reds accuse Boro of 'illegal' approach

The hearing is to investigate Christian Ziege's transfer to Liverpool four years ago, with the Teesside club claiming £7million in compensation.

The original claim was thrown out by the High Court in May 2002 but reinstated on appeal six months later, despite the German having a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for £5.5million.

But Liverpool now claim that Heskey was 'tapped up' ahead of a formal approach for the player in January and if evidence can be provided it would almost certainly affect the outcome of the Ziege case.
