Reds bid for Serb defender

Rafael Benitez hopes to sign the Serbian defender from Russian side Spartak Moscow next week. The Russian season has ended so Liverpool would be able to sign Vidic this week although he would not be eligible to play until the transfer window opens in January.

Vidic has also been linked with Italian side Fiorentina but Benitez has warned the defender he will pull out of any deal if he suspects Vidic is not 100% commited to joining LFC.
