Reds boss grateful for board support

Liverpool, according to a media hungry for sensation, were in 'crisis' after failing to register a victory in the opening three games of the Premiership season but a trio of impressive wins have since dispelled rumours surrounding Houllier's position at the club.

"We live in an era where patience is not a virtue. We live with radio, press and all sorts of media outlets. There are video games, MTV and everything is instant in life today," admitted Houllier.

"If you lose three games you're rubbish and everything you've worked at has to be thrown away, but if you win three games you are the best in the world.

"I am pleased the board at Liverpool respect what we are doing. I was pleased that members of the board were only disappointed with the result but not the performance, for example, against Tottenham when we played very well but could not score recently.

"We are a special club and we know that. We have raised expectations with six trophies in four years and twice getting into the Champions League."
