Liverpool have continued to remain silent during weeks of intense speculation concerning the 24-year-old's career plans, but they have today told the Liverpool Echo that the reports are ' completely untrue'.
A senior Anfield official told the Echo: "That is completely untrue. There has been no contact yet and as far as we are concerned Steven Gerrard is still our player.
"Talk of swap deals involving Scott Parker and Damien Duff is nothing more than speculation."
While fans on Merseyside will be heartened by the clubs' defiant stance, local media still feel that Gerrard is liely to move to Roman Abramovich's side this summer.
