Reds can cope with Gerrard absence

Gerrard will have to sit out tomorrow's game against Sunderland as he recovers from a hairline fracture in his toe. However, Rafa Benitez has a strong squad at his disposal these days and can cover the captain's absence.

"It's clear we have a better squad and more players in this position. If we need to manage now it will be easier," said the Liverpool boss.

"Normally Gerrard would be a doubt because he has a break. I need to talk to the doctor and decide whether we have to manage or whether we can risk him."
