Reds can win without Gerrard

Liverpool are without their captain for today's game at the Hawthorns as Gerrard serves a one game suspension for his sending off against Everton last week.

Rafael Benitez is not concerned about his skipper's absence however, and cites his team's performance in the derby after Gerrard had been sent off as proof the Reds don't need to rely on their captain to play well.

"We know Steven is an important player for us and he is our top goalscorer. But we have shown we can win games without him, like last weekend's derby versus Everton, and I am sure we can manage the situation again this weekend." said the Liverpool boss.
