Reds close in on Boumsong deal

It was expected that the highly-rated Frenchman, who won acclaim for a series of assured performances alongside William Gallas during the Confederations Cup tournament this summer, would complete a free-transfer switch to Anfield next season but recent defensive blunders from Sami Hyypia have led many to believe that the 23-year-old could be set to sign for Gerard Houlier's side this January.

Boumsong words today have only intensified the growing rumours that he will soon be the latest French star to grace the Premiership.
