A 44th minute goal from Senegalise international El-Hadji Diouf gave Liverpool the advantage before Michael Owen's 20th goal of the season secured three precious points.

The Reds are now sixth in the table - just three points behind 4th placed Everton in the race for a coveted Champions League spot.
